About Hovdenakken

Hovdenakken is a mountain located in the middle of Hareidlandet, Sunnmøre's largest island. From the summit, you have a view towards both Hareid and Ulsteinvik, and much of the island itself.

On this trail, you will first pass Ramnefjellet, before you continue to Hovdenakken.

Getting there

From Ulsteinvik take road 61 towards Hareid. After 3-4 kilometers look for a sign towards Varleitet. Continue past this sign about 100 meters and turn right into a road with no signs.

After 1 kilometer turn right again and stay on the gravel road up the hills. Look for the parking lot on the left side of the road.

Trail description

The trailhead is found very close to the parking log. There are no signs but look for a pole indicating the start of the trail. Head up the trail and after only 100 meters you reach a junction where you want to take a left up the hill towards Ramnefjellet. From this junction just follow the trail as it first climbs up to Ramnefjellet, and eventually ends up at Hovdenakken.

Facts

  • Bring enough to water. There is no water available during the hike.
