About Valåfossen

A spectacular round trip with a rewarding view to the waterfall Valåfossen and the viewpoint at Svardalen valley.

Getting there

Turn off road E136 at Lesjaverk station, cross the railway and continue down to Soggje beach. Toll road from here. Follow the gravel road westward. Free parking on your left hand side right before the bridge that cross the river Valåe.

Trail description

The path towards Valåfossen waterfall is steep and airy, but the reward at the top is a magnificent view of the waterfall and Lesjaskogsvatnet lake. To get there follow signs from the gravel road.

From the waterfall viewpoint there is an unmarked path that continues further up the Valådalen valley and to the Valåvatnet lake. Follow signs east to the viewpoint of Svartdalen valley. From here the path goes down to the gravel road again. You will end up just a few hundred meters east of where you parked your car.

It is also possible to walk up to the waterfall just west of the river Valåe.

Facts

Valåfossen waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in Lesja. It really is a sight with lots of water in May and June.
