About Gorsa Bridge

The view from the Grosa Bridge is one of the most spectacular sights in the Lyngenfjord area. Next to the bridge is the Gorzifossen Waterfall.

Located deep inside the Kåfjorddalen valley, the aluminium footbridge stretches over the Sabetjohk canyon 153 meters below. On Saturdays during summer it’s possible to bungee jump from the bridge.

Getting there

The Gorsa Bridge is located in the Kåfjorddalen valley on the eastern side of the Lyngenfjord.

Turn off route E6 at Birtavarre and follow the road into the valley. After about 8 kilometers the road becomes a gravel road, which continues for another 3 kilometers until reaching the big car park at Ankerlia. This is where the trail begins. Drive carefully on the gravel road as it can be a bit rough and there are often sheep grazing in the area.

For a shorter and more family-friendly hike, keep driving up the narrow and windy road and park at the upper car park.

Trail description

The trail to the Grosa Bridge is marked from the car park. The route follows the river upstream.

Walk over the small bridge and through the forest. You will pass by remains of the old iron-ire mining industry with information boards.

From here the path is quite wide, but it becomes narrower as you get closer to the bridge. After crossing the bridge you will find a rest area.

From the other side, continue along “Fosseveien” for 1.8 kilometers until you reach the gravel road. Follow the road for another 3 kilometers back to the car park.

Alternative hike
For a shorter and more family-friendly hike you can begin where the return trail meets the gravel road. This hike is about 3.6 kilometers return.

  • Bungee jumping from the bridge is available on Saturdays during summer. Find more information on bungee.no.

  • Toilets at the car park at Ankerlia
  • Rest area by the bridge
