About Troll Lake
The Troll Lake (Trollvatnet) lies at the foot of the Trollvasstinden Mountain. This is a perfect route for families with children, and not very strenuous.
The Trollhytta Cabin along the hike has fantastic views over the Lyngen Alps.
Update 1st July 2019: Trollhytta Cabin seems to be closed to the public.
Troll Lake is located on the western side of the Lyngen Alps.
The trailhead is just north of the Svensby ferry terminal. Park at Svensby Tursenter.
From the car park at Svensby Tursenter, continue along the forest road.
Then, follow the marked trail to the Trollhytta Cabin. From the cabin, follow the trail to the south, before it turns back and heads north again towards Troll Lake. Continue to the northern end of the lake where there is a rest area by the river.
There is an alternative trailhead in Bensnes, south of Svensby. That route starts on the Bensnes forest road and then continues along a marked trail north towards the cabin and lake. The two routes can be combined so you don’t have to double back.
- During the weekends from February to Easter, Trollhytta Cabin sells waffles and coffee. Otherwise, the cabin is open for breaks during hikes. It is not possible to sleep at the cabin.
