About Nusfjord Lighthouse
Hike the short trip to the Nusfjord lighthouse for an enjoyable tour. The hike will take you by the historic rorbuer south of the harbor, through a lightly wooded area, and out to the small lighthouse perched on the rocks. The view from the lighthouse facing the fishing village and the rorbuer is one you should not miss.
From Leknes, drive south on E10 towards Å for about 22 kilometers. Turn left at the sign directing towards Nusfjord. Follow this road for 6 kilometers until you arrive in the fishing village. There is public parking in the designated parking areas, one located very close to the Nusford Arctic Resort reception building.
There is no public transportation traveling into Nusfjord.
From the Nusfjord Harbor, walk south along the road which takes you next to the historic rorbuer. Follow this trail until the road ends and the trail through the meadow begins. This area can be quite wet due to rain and snow runoff, so make sure you are wearing the appropriate waterproof shoes.
At this point, you will follow the trail to the left and between two small hills. Walk through this small valley and soon you will see the small lighthouse perched on top of its very own island. Follow along with the trail until you reach the bridge where you can cross over to the lighthouse.
From this vantage point, you have the open se to the south and a great view of the Nusfjord cove to the north. Bring a picnic or just enjoy the view before heading back to Nusfjord along the same route. There are many small trails created by the locals and by their sheep, so be sure to follow the map to ensure you are heading in the correct way.
- There is a cafe, restaurant, and country store in Nusfjord.
- There are public restrooms available in Nusfjord in the old icehouse, down the hill from the Nusfjord Rorbuer reception.
