About Løvhaugen to Röjden

This route is stage 8 of the full Finnskogleden hike. Stage 9 is from Röjden to Medskogen.

Trail description

From Løvhaugen walk north along the road for a few kilometers before following the forest trail to lake Baksjøen. The trail follows the south side of the lake and then heads eastwards to the border. Follow the border north until reaching border cairn 90 at Baksjøberget.

At Baksjøberget the trail turns eastwards and into Sweden. At Böhönen, it heads north over the Nollaberg hill for a great view, before descending towards the settlement of Röjden. Here the trail passes the legendary “Korset i Röjden”, a large cross in the ground where nothing will grow. The cross was discovered around 1850 and this strange phenomenon currently has no explanation.

Amenities

  • Drinking water is available from lakes and creeks along the trail
