About Håvilsrud to Mitandersfors

This route is stage 2 of the full Finnskogleden hike. Stage 3 is from Mitandersfors to Lebiko.

Trail description

Follow 2 kilometers of gravel road before it becomes a flat forest path leading to Vangen. During the Second World War, several courier routes went through Vangen, which was frequented by one of Norway’s most famous war heroes, Gunnar Sønsteby. After Vangen, the trail is quite flat going over swamps towards Skålsjön. Here, cross the river over an old flood dam and look for the gapahuk located at the edge of the beach. Right behind it, the trail rises above Källerashöjden providing a great view of Varaldsjøen lake in the north.

  • Drinking water is available from lakes and creeks along the trail

Where to stay

You can stay the night in the gapahuk near Skålsjön, which has a fireplace. Alternatively, you can rent a room along the road south from Mitandersfors. One is located 500 meters away from the trail and the other is 2 kilometers away. Both are booked by calling +46 570 775 059.
