About Sukkertoppen
Sukkertoppen is a great starter hike on Senja. Easy to access and situated right by the great accommodation Hamn i Senja. This mountain will give you great views of the Atlantic Ocean and large parts of Senja.
Hiking up to Sukkertoppen in the summertime to see the midnight sun will give you memories you will never forget.
Getting there
The trailhead starts right by Hamn i Senja. You can park your car there and walk to the trailhead, located about 1 kilometer from the hotel. From the hotel, head towards the main road, take a left and follow the road for about 500 meters. You will come to the trailhead along the right side of the road.
There is no bus stop close to the trailhead, so arriving there by car is your best option.
Trail description
The trail is marked all the way to the top and it is easy to follow. You will be passing Storvatnet on your left-hand side and the trail becomes a bit steeper up to Grytvatnet. The last part of the trail is fairly steep, zig-zagging its way to the top. The trail is secured with chains, which you can hold on to, at the most difficult parts.
