Brosmetinden Hiking Trail

Brosmetinden, the mountain located on the northeastern side of Kvaløya, is an easy and rewarding hike for outdoorsmen and women of all ages.
Head out of Tromsø on kv 862 in the direction of Kvaløya (northwest). After crossing the bridge to Kvaløya, continue following the 862 for another 10.4 km until keeping right towards “Tromvik” and “Ersfjordbotn”. Follow this road for 1.6 km until prompted to take a righthand turn towards “Tromvik”. Follow this road for 28.5 km until you reach a sign towards "Rekvik" directing you to the left. Follow this road for about 4 km until you reach the trailhead and parking on the right side of the road.
Note: Be aware of icy roads and bad weather in the winter.
The 425 bus from Tromsø Prostneset, the main bus station, will travel to Tromvik. You can view the updated bus times to Tromsvik on Tromsø's transportation website. This bus route, which takes about an 1.5 hours, only runs one or two times a day.
You are able to purchase tickets, which is about 50 NOK, on the bus but only cash payments are accepted.
Tromsø’s free transportation app, “Troms Mobillett”, is also available for download which will help plan departure times as well as pay bus fares.
The trail to Brosmetinden starts out in easy terrain. Only after a few minutes along your hike to Brosmortinden, you are begin to experience some great views of the surrounding islands and mountains: Sessøya, Bjørnholmen, and Russholmen. The trail is very easy to follow and well-trodden.
Be aware of some areas with steep drop-offs but it is very easy to keep a safe distance along this hike. The trail is easy to follow, and if you loose it, the peak is easy to see. Brosmetinden has a "false summit", so just keep going and you will reach the main top where you will find a "cairn", a tower of stones marking the peak, and a small box with a notebook to write your name in. Follow the same path on the way down.
The hike to Brosmetinden is also a nice excursion in the winter. The trail is not marked in the winter, but it's quite popular to go here with skis or snowshoes, so if you are lucky, there will be a trail to follow from previous skiers or hikers.
The trailhead to Brosmetinden, or Brosmortinden as it is also called by the locals, starts around 225 meters above sea level. It is a popular stop for tourists in the area due to the rewarding views over the nearby fjords and mountains. Brosmetinden is one of the easiest peaks in the area. Other nearby peaks include: Sørtinden, Mellomtinden, Nordtinden, and Tromtinden.
