About Lindøya

Lindøya is a rather large (compared to the other islands in the area) island located in the inner Oslofjord, that are covered with nearly 300 charming summer cottages. The northeastern part of the island is a designated nature reserve.

The island was Norwegian Airline's airbase during the summer of 1920 until the airport was moved to the neighboring Gressholmen, Heggholmen and Rambergøya Islands. From the western port, the swimming area of Køkkendodden is a short walking distance. There’s also a nice viewpoint if walking towards Nessodden.

If taking the ferry from the eastern port, you can see the “Stamhuset” Inn, which was built in 1750. In the 19th century, the inn hosted the Christiania Hunter Club, which King Oscar II was a member. However, he spent most of his time at his cabin on the western side of the island. Other points of interest include a historic island and the Christiania Meridian monument on the southeastern side of the island.

Getting there

Take ferry line B1/B3 from Rådhusbrygge 4 [City Hall Pier 4] (located near the 'Rådhuset',

'Aker Brygge', and 'Nationaltheatret' public transportation stops) to 'Lindøya vest' on the western side of the island. Or take ferry line B1/B3 to 'Lindøya øst' for the eastern side of the island. The ferry will take about 15-20 minutes.
