About Sydstranda Beach
Sydstranda Beach is located on the southern tip of Ulvøya, an island of the inner Oslofjord, just west of the mainland at Nordstrand. It consists of a beach, diving board football court, and tennis courts.
The beach is made of very fine rock and large flagstones that are great to lay on. The water below a 3 and a 5-meter high diving board is rather shallow, so make sure you dive straight in and follow the directions (located to the right of the diving board). Bring a net for crabbing or a fishing rod, because there are excellent spots for this on the western side of the beach. In case you’re interested in grilling, there are permanent grills located on the east and west sides—all you need are coals.
This beach is very well-kept, because of the small entrance fee, which can be paid in cash or by Vipps.
Take bus 85, 'Ulvøya via Malmøya' to 'Ulvøya', and walk 3 minutes south to the beach. Another option is to take bus 83, 'Tårnåsen' or bus 87 'Ingierstrand' to 'Ulvøybrua'. Walk across the bridge and keep left at the first intersection. It’s about a 12-minute walk.
If traveling via car, you will find some roadside parking at the entrance of the beach. It fills up fast though.
