Runde Bird Island Hiking Trail
Visit the most diverse bird island in Norway

About Runde Bird Island
Runde Bird Island is best known for its wide range of bird species, and the most famous is perhaps the Puffins. The highest bird activity is in the period from February to August.
At the peak up to half a million birds inhabits the island, and over 200 different species are observed during the year. Some of them just visiting for a short while.
The island itself is worth a visit. It's a calming place, where the cliffs meet the raw force of the ocean. You can also extend the hike and visit the Runde lighthouse.
Drive towards Fosnavåg on road 654. Follow the signs to Runde.
The road ends in Goksøyr. You will find a large parking to the right after a short tunnel.
The area is wildlife protected. It is important that you keep to the trails only.
Continue from the parking along the road. You will pass Goksøyr Camping along the way.
The trail head is located between the houses. Look for the pole with many old wooden signs.
After a short walk upphill, you will reach a trail junction. You can go up to the left to visits the cliffs first, or go to the right if you want to go the opposite way. Feel free to explore the trails.
- Bring some extra clothes in case of wind.
