About Kvernhusstien

The trail to the millhouse is a nice, short and easy walk for the whole family. Here is a lot of exciting exploring for both young and old.

Getting there

Drive off E136 1.3 km east of Bjorli towards Rånå. Follow the road for about 4.2 km and park at a big parking lot to your left hand side. Parking fee. 

Trail description

The trail follows a tractor road to Asbjørnsåa, where the trail divides. Keep right. If you want to take a little detour, you can turn left and follow the path upwards along the river to the America stone. From here you turn and go back the same way. Go over the bridge Geitbrua and follow the edge of a field, then over St. Olavsberget to the waterfall Kvernhusfossen. A little below the waterfall is a restored millhouse. From here the trail continues up towards Rånåvegen and to the parking lot again.

Facts

The millhouse is most likely from 1841 and was moved here in 1913 from further up in the river at Rånåmoen. The mill were probably last used during World War II.
