Melshornet is the most visible mountain in Hareid, and a popular trip among the locals.
This hike offers a nice view along the trail and from the summit.
From Hareid stay on road 35 towards Hjørungavåg, and follow this road along the mountain for approximately 8 kilometers.
When you're getting close, the road will start to run uphill. At the highest point of the road, you will find the parking spot to your right.
There are also signs marking the trailhead from the road.
If the parking is full, go back the road about 500 meters and park your car at the shooting range.
From the parking spot just stay on the gravel road. You will soon pass two trail junctions. Go up and to the left on both occasions.
The trail then follows the ridge all the way to the summit.
- No running water so bring enough water for the whole hike.
- Free parking
