The trail begins from the tourist information office by the fjord.
Head away from the fjord, aiming for the service station along Road 7. Just before reaching the service station, turn left and walk over the bridge. Turn right once you cross the bridge and continue along the river. The trail will bring you to Eidfjord Lake where you can stop for a break.
The trail then takes an uphill climb to Hæreid where there are 350 burial mounds from the Iron and Viking ages. Continue through farmland before reaching the turn off for Hodna Viewpoint, with views over Eidfjord.
The trail continues back down towards the fjord and into the village along the road.
