About Galten og Kornbergveten
This hike gives you lots of great views for fairly little effort. The trail is not very though and you will have views of the fjords almost all the way to the top. Halfway on the way up you hike by Galten, a rock cliff hanging over the Dalsfjorden fjord. A perfect place for a great photo.
From Volda take the ferry to Folkestad or from Nordfjordeid take road 651 across Stigedalen to Folkestad. At Folkestad drive towards Lauvstad and by the Coop grocery store take a left and continue through the residential area until you reach the toll road Blåfjellsvegen. 1 km after crossing the toll station you will find the trailhead on the right side of the road.
The hike goes through a fairly easy terrain, starting on a small gravel road before continuing on a trail. The first kilometer is uphill through the forest, but after leaving the forest behind you will have great views of the fjords and the small towns in the area.
Halfway up to Kornbergveten you reach Galten which is a rock cliff that reaches out towards the Dalsfjorden fjord. Continuing from Galten the trail heads up a gentle hill before you reach the main peak Kornbergveten.
- Little or no water along the trail so make sure to bring what you need
- You need to pay 30 NOK in cash to get to the trailhead.
- Park along the gravel road by the trailhead.
- There is a small open cabin at Kornbergveten that you can use in case of bad weather.
