About Gråkampen and Hulabakken
On the trail to Gråkampen take a detour and experience the myth of Hulabakken. Hulabakken was traveling around Valdres and Hallingdal in the 1600s. The myth says he was stealing and hiding what he stole in a cave called Hulabakkhula. You can visit the cave, but watch your steps and bring a flashlight.
After the exploring of the cave, the trip will either go back to the starting point or go on to Gråkampen (1595) where there is a fantastic view over the area.
From the E16, exit by the Ulnes church and follow the signs to Panoramavegen and Vaset (toll road NOK 40 in 2010). Continue on the same road in the direction of Nøsen and turn right by the containers, a few hundred meters before you reach Nøsen Fjellhotell. Keep going for another 4 km until you reach a road crossing at Buaråne. Turn left, pass the bridge and continue for another 1.5 km towards Bukono/Grunke. Then turn right towards Halvorstølen. The road is steep until you reach the summer farm area where you will find a place to park.
From Halvorstølen, walk about 300m along the dirt road in a southward direction and turn right by a small cabin. Steep uphill trail before it evens out by Bukonofjellet (mountain). Stay in the direction northwest until you see cairn on the top of Gråkampen. The upper parts are rocky.
