Ustetind is a mountain North East on Hardangervidda, souht of Ustaoset. From Ustetind you have an amazing view of Hardangervidda to the South. In good weather you can see Gaustatoppen. To the North you can see the Hallingskarvet mountain plateau.
Ustetind can be rached from several places. From Ustaoset, you can either start in the center or park where the trail starts, by Verpestølvegen (remember it's a toll road!)
From the center of Ustaoset, follow the RV7 road just over 1 km eastward (on the left-hand side of the road, there is an old trail on which it is nice to walk). Take a right on the road that goes to Verpestølen. After another 1 km, by Ustebergstølen, the trail to Ustetind starts.
From there, you'll need approximately 2 hours up and 1,5 down (3,3 km one way).
It is quite a steep climb up, but the panorama view at the top is well worth the effort! From 1,376 m elevation, you can stand by the large cairn and gaze out over the Hardangervidda plain, the Hardangerjøkulen glacier, and the long-stretched Hallingskarvet mountains.
The trail is good and suits almost every one, also kids who have been hiking a bit earlier.
