This adventure is an easy option to get some great views of the ocean around Stad. The trail follows a road build in the 1930's. This area has seen various military activity throughout the years. During WW2 the Germans built a fortress up here with tunnels going through the mountain.
The tunnels are restored to how they were originally built and you can climb through the tunnels to reach the viewpoint. Alternatively, you can walk the road all the way up.
Park your car for free by Erviksanden Camping. Make sure you don't park in the circular area at the end of the street where the buses usually turn and go back.
The trailhead is right by Erviksanden Camping. This hike is usually done as a loop and starts by heading up the gravel road that goes through the houses up the hill from the trailhead.
After passing the houses follow the road now turning west towards the sea. Follow the road up towards the hill with great views of the beach and the sea. Just before you reach the end of the road you can optionally go through one of the tunnels and climb up a ladder up to the viewpoint.
When going back follow the road back and then head down the trail to the houses by the coastline. Then follow the gravel road back to the trailhead.
- Animals are grazing in this area so make sure to close all gates.
- Bring a headlamp if you want to go through the tunnel.
Where to stay
