With the nickname of "Stavanger's Riviera", one must take a trip to Solastranda beach. Walk along the beach and around the southern rocky point, or enjoy a sunny day in the waves. Solastranda beach has plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.
From Stavanger, follow E39 south for about 6 kilometers until reaching the exit for Rv509 towards the airport. After 4.5 kilometers, take the exit towards "Sola" and the airport. Continue south past the airport along Nordsjøvegen for about 2 kilometers until reaching the sign towards "Sola Strand Hotel" and "Solastranda parking". Turn right and follow the road for another few hundred meters until the road curves to the left and you reach the free parking lot.
A good starting point for your adventure along Solastranda beach is at Sola Strand Hotel. Here, you will have access to a parking lot just a few hundred meters from the beach. The Solastranda trail will take you south, past the airport, and along the coastline for a few kilometers. Enjoy a short or long hike, soaking in the beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding nature.
Along the route, you will have the opportunity to explore World War II bunkers next to the ocean. Further south, on Rægestrand beach, there is a nice old seaside house on the edge of the beach. Past Rægestranda beach, the trail takes you through slightly hilly terrain, past a variety of small peninsulas jutting out into the ocean, which provide great views. Continue along the trail until you reach the small fishing village of Ølber, where if you are lucky, you can watch the fishing boats coming in with day's catch.
The coastline from Ølberg south to Vigdel is characterized by large rocks and cliffs before arriving at the idyllic Vigel beach. From the beach, it is possible to hike out to Vigdelsvet point where there are great views of the surrounding ocean and nature.
Continue hiking south for a few hundred meters until the trail ends. Return to the starting point along the same route.
