About Grotlivatnet Lake
Stretch your legs at Grotli with an easy-going hike through birch woods to the edge of Grotlivatnet Lake. Afterwards, enjoy a treat in the café at Grotli Høyfjellshotell. The trail leads through a marshy area so waterproof boots or shoes are recommended.
A stop at Grotli is a nice break before or after trip along the Geiranger-Trollstigen or Gamle Strynefjellsvegen scenic routes.
The trailhead is located across the road from Grotli Høyfjellshotell in Grotli, the eastern endpoint of Norwegian Scenic Route Gamle Strynefjellsvegen. Park in the large lot by the hotel.
Cross over Road 15 by the reception at Grotli Høyfjellshotell and look for a large stone with a sign for “Grotlivassrunda” that marks the trailhead.
Follow the trail through marshland and birch woods as it leads to Grotlivatnet Lake. By the lake you’ll spot the boat dock where you can stop and take a break.
Back on the trail, continue to the southwest until you reach some cabins and Grotlivassvegen Road. Turn right and follow the road to Gamle Strynefjellsvegen. Turn right and follow this road back to the hotel.
