Stølhøa is an easily accessible hilltop with views over Oppdal center. The big brother of nearby Skjørstadhovden, the trip to Stølhoa takes you a little higher and requires a bit more time.
The area is also popular for mountain biking.
The trail begins from a parking lot in Stølen, just northeast of Oppdal center. Follow the E6 highway north from Oppdal. After about 2.5 km, turn left and follow the signs towards Stølen. Continue past the ski center and over a bridge. There, you’ll find a large parking lot and the start of the hike.
From the parking lot, follow Stølstrøavegen road north briefly before continuing along the eastern side of the Gardåa stream. The marked trail takes you through the woods and above the treeline. The incline is fairly gradual before becoming a little steeper just before the top.
