- Duration: 4-6 hours
Snaukollen is one of a handful of peaks in the Finnemarka forest with great views of the surrounding area. The peak is quite flat but on the northeastern side you have good views towards Glitre and all the other small lakes throughout this area.
The hike to Snaukollen starts at Urdevann outside of Drammen. From Drammen drive for about 10 km along road 283 westbound towards Hokksund. Here you will get to a round-a-bout right by the Drammenselva river. Taking left will take you across the river to Mjøndalen, but taking the right will take you into Krokstadelva. Take a right and after only 200 meters take another right onto Gamle Riksvei. After another 200 meters take a left onto Nordlysveien.
Continue on Nordlysveien up the hill and further on until the road ends and you need to take a right to get to Årbogen. Driving through Årbogen you will get to the road taking you up to Urdevann. This is a paid road and costs 60 NOK. You can pay by cash or by Vipps(Norwegian app).
Follow this gravel road all the way up to the parking lot at Urdevann. The drive up from Årbogen is about 8 km.
From the parking lot at Urdevann start hiking the gravel road that starts from the northern end of the lot. Follow this road for some hundred meters until the blue marked trail starts on the left side of the road. The trail immediately starts climbing up a bit and then down again on the northern end of Øyvannet.
After passing Vellingen lake the trail moves a bit up and down and there are no steep hills until you reach the foot of Snaukollen. From the foot and up there is a pretty steep the trail moving up about 100 meters before it flattens out. Then hike the last 300 meters out to the viewpoint.
