Ridderspranget or The Knight’s leap is a small gorge in the river Sjoa by the outskirts of Jotunheimen National Park. Old Norwegian tales describes the story of a knight who escaped his followers by jumping across Ridderspranget together with the girl he loved. You will find more information about this story at site.
The canyon is about 2 meters wide and you should definitely not try to jump across. But the canyon is definitely an interesting place to visit with the Sjoa river running through the gorge.
About 5 km south of Randsverk on road 51 you will see a white sign for a place of interest. Continue straight on this gravel road until you get to the rather small parking lot.
From the parking lot, it is a very short trail down to the river. Just follow the signs.
- Be careful in this area so you don't slip and fall into the river. Deadly accidents have happened in this area before.
- Free parking
