About Stenhoggerhyttene
Stenhoggerhyttene, the “stone cutter’s cabins”, are beautifully located along Skjelsbu sound near Dypedal on Spjærøy island. Spjærøy is the islands between Vesterøy and Asmaløy, and is along the main shipping route to Fredrikstad. The cabins are located right on the water with a sandy beach which is great for swimming. On the dock, there are two rowing boats for use by tenants and it is also a great spot for some fishing.
The three cabins bear the names: Stenhoggerhytta, Klyven and the newly built, Mundastua.
The area has become Hvaler's cultural center, including the Brottet amphitheater, which is the old quarry turned into a theater. The amphitheater has a rich culture every summer with concerts and theatrical performances.
