Trail description

Arriving at Elgtjønna, your possibilities are many. A bivouac and a firepit invite you to enjoy an idyllic break by the water. You may also continue your hike on the marked path that runs around the tarn.

The path is part of the more extensive network of trails in Kåsen.

The smooth newt (Triturus vulgaris) exists only in a few places in Norway, but thrive in areas like this. After the last count in 2009, scientists found over 20 smooth newts in these areas around Elgtjønna. You might catch a rare glimpse of it.
