About Havna to Ildverket
A paddle tour to Ildverket island in Færder National Park is a great route. The island is a perfect place for a break and even stay overnight.
From Oslo, follow E18 east towards Kristiansand for nearly 96 kilometers until you reach exit 35-Gullikrysset for Rv308 toward Tønsberg/Nøtterøy/Tjøme. Follow Fv308 for 29.5 kilometers until turning left onto Havnaveien. Follow Havnaveien for a few hundred meters until you reach your destination.
From Havna, cross the Røssesundet strait east and into the narrow strait which takes you under the Øra-brua bridge (county road 380), which separates Brøtsø in the north and Hvasser in the south. Head north following Brøtsø island along the eastern shoreline. Many quaint, private cabins are found along the water in this area.
When you arrive at the island Uleholmen, you will see the northern edge of Hvasser island in the east. Cross over the strait to this point. Continue paddling north, crossing Vasskalvsund strait, which separates Hvasser in the south and Vasskalven island in the north. As you round northern edge of Vasskalven island, cross to the islands, Frougen in the north and then to Ildverket in the east. On the western side of the island, you will find a pier and a great place to take a break and even stay the night.
Be aware of boat traffic in this area, their speeds can be much higher than in the sheltered waters. Return to Havna along the same route.
At Havna you can find:
- Public restrooms
- Fresh water
