About Håøya Loop
A short paddle tour through the beautiful archipelago.
From Oslo, follow E18 east towards Kristiansand for nearly 96 kilometers until you reach exit 35-Gullikrysset for Rv308 toward Tønsberg/Nøtterøy/Tjøme. Follow Fv308 for 12 kilometers until turning right onto Tenvikveien. Continue on Tenvikveien for another 5.7 kilometers until you reach your destination.
From Tenvik, the route heads south across the strait to Kjølholmen, the peninsula on the northeastern point of Veierland island. Be cautious of the boat traffic in this area during the crossing. On the east side of Kjølholmen there is a great recreational area with a beach and great camping locations.
From Kjølholmen, paddle west until you reach the northwestern tip of the island. From here, cross over the strait to Håøya, an island which has been occupied by the Norwegian Armed Forces for a long time. The island is no longer used for military activity and today the north side and parts of the eastern side are used as a vacation destination.
Most of the island is free to use for outdoor activities and has a great coastal path that is definitely worth a visit. On the north side of Håøya, the route crosses to Nøtterøy, where you will head south. Follow the shoreline south until you return to Tenvik.
At Tenvik you can find:
- Public restrooms
- Fresh water
