Trail description
From Torødstranda, cross directly over to Søndre Årøy island and head south along the shoreline until you reach the recreational area at the southern tip of the island. From here, paddle south to the point, Mågerøtangen, on the island, Mågerø. The area between Søndre Årøy and Mågerø is called Mågerøflaket and can be a bit rough at times with a lot of boat traffic, so be cautious during your crossing.
Continue south until you pass Kongehytta and cross south to Burø island. Continue paddling south along the eastern side of the island. At this point, you are have entered Færder National Park and you will be paddling in a beautiful archipelago landscape for the rest of the trip to Ildverket. At the southern tip of Burø, paddle south to Froungen and onwards to the pier on Ildverket’s western coast.
Ildverket is a well-established island, but despite this, there is still lots of open areas to explore. You will always find a nice picnic area and if you have time, we recommend spending the night here, either in a tent or in the coastal cabin available for rent on the northern tip of the island.
After departing Ildverket, head north to the islands, Mostein, Reiaren, and Kalven before crossing to Søndre Årøy in the north. Be aware of the southeast and onshore winds, especially at the southern tip of Søndre Årøy island. When you paddle into Årøysundet, cross over to the starting point at Torødstranda.
Alternative route:
If the wind is blowing, it is recommended to return from Ildverket same way as you came.
