About Torødstranda to Ropern
A great paddling route through Vrengensundet between Nøtterøy and Tjøme. Along the route, you will find charming cabins and beautiful beaches.
From Oslo, follow E18 east towards Kristiansand for nearly 96 kilometers until you reach exit 35-Gullikrysset for Rv308 toward Tønsberg/Nøtterøy/Tjøme. Follow Fv308 for 7 kilometers through Tønsberg. Turn left onto Smidsrødveien/Fv309 and drive for 8.5 kilometers until you turn right onto Torødveien. After 1 kilometer, turn left onto Nestvikveien and very shortly after, turn left onto Strandåsveien where you will find your destination.
From Torødstranda, the route heads south and follows the shoreline of Nøtterøy. When you round the point at Brevik, the route turns westward and into the strait, Vrengensundet. Here are you more protected from the sønnavinden og solgangsbrisen. Beaches and piers will be found all along the shoreline and it is normally quite easy to land, but many cabins are private so be respectful of private property.
After passing through charming areas like Buerstad, Strengsdal, and Styrsvik, you will reach the small recreational area called Ropern, located at Kjøpmannskjær. Here is a good place for a break and to stretch your legs. In the area around Kjøpmannskjær, there can be a lot of boat traffic and activity during the summer season, so be cautious of your surroundings. Return to Torødstranda along the same route.
At Torødstranda you can find:
- Public restrooms
- Fresh water
