From Yddin (854 m) the terrain slightly exceeds toward northeast. The landscape characterized by open, large marshes that are separated by small birch hills. The rivers Kjølaåne and Etne winds through the landscape.
From Sygnestølen you can go hiking in the marshy landscape and end up at the viewpoint Gamlestøl Mountain. Here you have great views over the conservation area and bird life on the marshes.
Kjølaåne is easy accessible from Heggenes in Øystre Slidre toward Storeskag (remember to bring cash to the tollroad). Bring waterproof footwear and binoculars! Remember you are a guest in a natural area where attention to vulnerable wildlife is required.
