About Hilmesberget

Longer access: Park at Ulnes church. Go to Vaset, then right towards Fodnes of E16, then left towards Upper Røn. You go up the second driveway on the right. In the slope are signed Sølleplassen left. From here, the old cattle trail Nordsvingoto cleared as a much used footpath. You should be over four klyveled (fence splitter) upwards, making it easy to reach. You pass the plot Ørderrusten. Sometimes there are cattle here. Do not go to the right on the farm Brøtin, but go further up. After the fourth klyveled (fence splitter) comes up to the gates of Sølleplassen on the left hand. Approx. 150 meters uphill here. You go right down the farm road and then right down the country road until you see the sign with Jørn Hilme left. Then, as the shortest access to Hilme Mountain. Approx. 2 km so far. After the visit to Hilme Mountain, go down the country road to Ulnes church. Approx. 1.5 km back. You can also visit an old krøttergoto with stone fences on both sides across the first turn.

Shortest access: Take the E16 to Ulnes, turn left towards the Vaset at Ulnes church, turn right towards Fodnes, take the bridge over the E16, continue straight ahead towards Fodnes, after a long left turn you see the sign "Jørn Hilme" on the right, park on the left edge of the road. Then a short, child-friendly ride 150 meters above the forest (50 m uphill) until you see the memorial stone fiddler Jørn Hilme on Hilme Mountain, where he lived.
