The starting point is at Liagardsvegen (Fv. 293) 1.8 km west from the Slettefjell boom barrier. An information board and signs pointing to Måneberg and Nefstadstølen at the start. The hike goes on the old mountain farm road to Rysndalen. Slightly up the hill you go through a gate and pass plot left after the home mountain farm in Sørre Hemsing. The path slants upward toward the north. A little further up the hill you get to a crossroads with signs to "Måneberg". Here you go diagonally to the right (northeast (sign "Nefstadstølen") and take the footbridge over the creek Hensåne.
Continuing on the path leads through easy terrain, passing the old mountain farm dwellings by Rotestølen, and soon the landscape opensup towards Rysndalen and Slettfjellet. The last part of the mountain farm road goes between two mountain pastures. Then you arrive at the dirt track. You can follow it down to the boom for Slettefjellvegen and further on to the starting point.
Should you wish to go the opposite way, you can here at the sign "Nefstadstølen" park the car and follow the signs to "Fylkesvegen/Møsåkerstølen".
If you should want to have a longer trip, you are now at the start of the trip to Mjellknapp. You can make it as long as you want. You can for examle go to Tjørobyttjernet and take the ridge south and otherwise enjoy the tranquility of the high mountains. If you follow the stream Hensåne down, you arrive at a small bridge you crossed on the way up. But up there on the mountain, you can choose to go over Hensåne and back down to Haukeberg (1,130 masl) which is located there, round and pleasant down the mountainside. There you can enjoy fine views before going down the pass on the west side or the east side of Haukeberg. Both are steep, but harmless. Go so straight down, you arrive down on the marked trail. Turn left, towards the southeast and you'll be back on the trail you went up about 1 km from the outset.
