About Holmestrand to Tvillingbru

A short paddling route along the coastal path and the abandoned train tracks, and a perfect adventure to get some fresh air.

The adventure is part of Padleled Vestfold and the entry point for the adventure is Holmestrand Sentrum.

Getting there

From Oslo, follow E18 east towards Kristiansand for nearly 50 kilometers until you reach exit 28-Bergsenga-krysset for Rv313 toward Sande N. Follow Rv313 south for 20 kilometers until you reach Holmestrand. There are two public parking lots, which require a fee, near the harbor.

Trail description

We recommend to paddle this short route early in the morning to experience the sunrise. After launching the kayak in Holmestrand, paddle out of the marina and head north along the shoreline. You will first paddle past the big park, Dulpen, and from here you will paddle next to the abandoned railway, which has now turned into the coastal path.

This area is very popular for fishing trout and the likelihood of meeting a fisherman is great. After a short kilometer, you reach Tvillingbru. Here is a newly built picnic area and a perfect place to stop and stretch your legs. Return to Holmestrand along the same route.

At Holmestrand Sentrum you can find:

  • Grocery stores
  • Public restrooms
  • Restaurants
  • Parking
