Leave the E-16 midway on Bøaflata, approximately 100 m east of Vang Kro, at the sign "Skakadalen 8". After 400 meters turn right and drive 700 m to boom barrier. After 6.5 kilometers there is a sign to Kljåen on the south side of the road, about 200 m after the first summer farm on Bøastølane. You start with a good uphill. Approximately 300 meters you have to go up before you at 1200 meters altitude can take a rest to enjoy the views of Skakadalen. From here the trail goes more towards the west. The path can be a bit difficult to find especially in bad weather because the T-marking is set up south of where the trodden path leads. This is to avoid a large snowdrift. Where the marked trail goes, the path is bad, and it is far between cairns. After passing Grasbakken the trail is more clear again below Sauehaugen.
In the area Hamarskredtjern - Nevreskartjernet, at the Trail's highest passage, about 1460 masl, in the border area between Vang and Hemsedal, the trail goes many places through boulder fields and talus. Eventually it goes steeply downward Nevreskaret, about 400 meters, to the lush Kljådalen valley and the self-service tourist association cabin Kljåen (990 masl).

A point-to-point route takes you from one location to another, without returning to the start. Distance and duration calculations are based on one-way travel.
