About Uksestigen til Bergsfjellet
You take off from the E-16 at Vang Auto-Service, at the sign "Skakadalen 10 ", and drive the Stele-road past farms until the exit to Vårheim, (approximately 600 m above the barrier money box). Park at the exit after about 10m on the left side of the road to Vårheim. Follow markings and signs to "Uksestigen - Bergsfjellet". Then follow the tractor road on the downside of Vårheim a few hundred meters to a path crossing. You can either follow the marking along Uksestigen up the left, or you can follow the signs "Utsiktspunkt" to the point with great views over Vang. When you have reveled in the view, go a few meters back and follow the marking further on, past an old barn until you get to "Uksestigen" once again. Follow the marking on through deciduous forest in an even rise. After the birchwood has ended, and at 1250 meters altitude, you have arrived to the opening in the stone wall that is called "Ukseporten". There you should take a good rest and enjoy the wonderful view. Once that's done, you wander in towards Uksebotten where the bulls had their summer paradise. (Kind of paradise..there were no cows there.)
When you have gotten this high up, spent so much energy, and perhaps still have the day ahead of you, then you should definitely go further up to the right, in a northeasterly direction along the ridge to the viewpoint 1422 masl. Should time and effort still be "on your side", walking along the edge of the cliff in a northwesterly direction is highly recommended. Eventually, the view opens up toward Øye. You can always cancel the trip and return to the starting point through Uksebotten.
